Exhibition "Nomads of Our Time" on Sylt

The “nomads of our time” move on: The Sylt Museum in Keitum is the latest venue for this exhibition tour with 75 photographs from my Photo report about four migratory sheep farms in Schleswig-Holstein.

The museum, which is located directly on the Sylt Wadden Sea, is one of the leading exhibition houses in the north with its collections and diverse special exhibitions. It sets "accents that are significant far beyond the region," as a jury of experts recently judged as part of a certification of Schleswig-Holstein museums.

In the spotlight: traveling shepherdess Uta Wree and her flock

Not only for this reason is the presentation of the exhibition “Nomads of our time” in Keitum a stroke of luck, but also because of the proximity of the museum to the territory of the wandering shepherdess Uta WreeFor almost two weeks, I accompanied her and her herd on their daily migration through the Braderuper Heide, a stone's throw north of the museum, in late summer and early autumn 2021. These recordings form the focus of the Sylt show, which the museum directors Alexander Römer MA curated with a view to regional relevance.

Exhibition period: February 13 to July 20, 2025.

The project “Nomads of our time. Travelling sheep farms in Schleswig-Holstein” was largely funded by the European Union and the state of Schleswig-Holstein.

The exhibition is directed by Sparkassenstiftung Schleswig-Holstein has been shown in several locations since 2023. Following the presentation at the Sylt Museum, the show can be seen in the Galerie Erlebnis Bungsberg. Further information: Exhibition “Nomads of Our Time”
