Animal

With the exhibition “... animalistic ...”, the Sparkassenstiftung Schleswig-Holstein was a guest at the Ministry of Finance in Kiel for the second time. After the exhibition “… united …” on the Day of German Unity 2019, she gave an insight into her own extensive collection with more than 100 works of art.
From October 25, 2021 to September 30, 2022 (extended) things were “animal” in the Ministry of Finance: “Sometimes more, sometimes less clear. Sometimes seriously, sometimes with a wink. Sometimes colorful and sometimes less colorful. Animals are always the focus” (Sparkassenstiftung).
The Ministry on Düsternbrooker Weg - perhaps surprising for some guests - with its long, evenly lit corridors and spacious staircase is not a sideshow for exhibitions in the state capital, but a very suitable address for sophisticated presentations.
After the presentation in Kiel, the exhibition will be shown in the “erlebnis Bungsberg” gallery from February 2nd to May 28th, 2023.
The lavish exhibition offers a broad cross-section of Schleswig-Holstein's contemporary art scene. Animals or animal creatures can be found in all of the works - paintings, graphics, sculptures, objects and photographs - from fantasy creations to mythical creatures to comic characters.
I am represented in the exhibition with four of my photographs from the Sparkasse Foundation collection:
With the project “…animal…” the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe is once again emphasizing its role as the largest entrepreneurial supporter of the fine arts in Germany. In addition to financing events, publications and exhibitions in German museums, this has long included the acquisition of works of art for the savings banks' and their foundations' own collections.
The accompanying catalog documents a large number of the works on display, explains the selection and contains short biographies of the artists.
