Yellowstone in winter

Yellowstone, located in the western United States, is the oldest national park in the world - and attracts millions of people every year. With its largely untouched wilderness, the park serves as a strictly protected refuge for rare animal species - especially bison, grizzly bears and wolves.
But Yellowstone is not only home to a rich wildlife, it encompasses much more: With 10.000 hot springs and 300 geysers, the park forms a geothermal oasis that exists nowhere else in this size.
Yellowstone is a work of art of nature – and offers inexhaustible opportunities for nature photography, especially in winter.
But: An excursion to Yellowstone in winter is not a relaxing trip, but a pure adventure with an expedition character. Icy temperatures of up to minus 50° C and a landscape often covered in deep snow are an extreme endurance test for people and equipment.
Holger Rüdel took on this challenge and explored Yellowstone with his camera for almost three weeks in January 2024. The exhibition featured 53 images from the photo reportage.
Exhibition location: Schleswig City Museum, 16 October 2024 (opening) to 17 November 2024 and 11 December 2024 to 16 March 2025.
All pictures from this exhibition and some other motifs are available as FineArt prints in many versions.
