Nomads of our time. Travelling sheep herds in Schleswig-Holstein. Photographs by Holger Rüdel
The large-format accompanying volume to the exhibition of the same name with contributions by Jochen Missfeldt and Andreas Schenk was published by the Sparkassenstiftung Schleswig-Holstein. Published in 2023 by Wachholtz-Verlag. 128 pages with 116 black and white photographs.

The large-format illustrated book - published by the Sparkassenstiftung Schleswig-Holstein - accompanied the exhibition "Zeitenwende" about the change in fishing on the Schlei, an arm of the Baltic Sea. Text contributions by Svend Duggen and Anke Carstens-Richter. Published in 2021 by Wachholtz-Verlag in two editions. 140 pages with 123 illustrations.

Time Blend. Photographs by Holger Rüdel
In 2018, the catalogue “Zeitblende. Photographs by Holger Rüdel” was published, which accompanied the exhibition of the same name. The publication in landscape format DIN A4 comprises 44 pages with 128 illustrations.

Schleswig rediscovered. Treasures from 150 years of photography
This companion volume by Holger Rüdel and Angeline Schube-Focke was published in 2015 for an exhibition project in the Schleswig City Museum. Sutton-Verlag. 128 pages with 142 illustrations.

Schleswig during the economic miracle
“Schleswig during the economic miracle. Two decades of city history reflected in the photos of Adolf Dohse” is the title of the book by Holger Rüdel, which was published in 2013 by Sutton-Verlag on the occasion of a special exhibition in the Schleswig City Museum. With over 200 photographs, the volume provides the first comprehensive insight into the work of the photographer Adolf Dohse (1913-1985).

The Holm – Schleswig's old fishing settlement
The history of the most famous – and oldest – district of Schleswig. Text and all colour photographs by Holger Rüdel. Published in 2000 by Husum Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft. Revised new edition in 2007.

The Holm – a family album
Conceived as a comprehensive forensic investigation, the Hamburg photographer Ulrich Mack portrayed the Schleswig fishing settlement of Holm and almost all 1993 residents in 300. Edited and with a foreword by Holger Rüdel. Additional texts by Anke Carstens-Richter and Heinz Spielmann. Published by Nieswand-Verlag in 1993.

The Life of a Farm Worker
In 1985, the memoirs of the Schleswig-Holstein farm worker Franz Rehbein, first published in 1911, were published in a new edition by Christians-Verlag in Hamburg, edited by Urs J. Diederichs and Holger Rüdel and including an extensive afterword.

The magazine presented nine pages of black-and-white infrared photographs from the series “December Light” by Holger Rüdel, which were taken at the end of 2018 on the Hörnum-Odde, the Ellenbogen and on the beach in Rantum.

SZ magazine family, May/June 2018
For an article about the educational ideas of the 68 movement, the magazine “Familie” of the Süddeutsche Zeitung used an image from Holger Rüdel’s report on an anti-authoritarian children’s shop in Kiel in 1970.

Dein Spiegel 11- 2017
In 2017, “Dein Spiegel”, the kids’ edition of the Hamburg news magazine, published an article with photos by Holger Rüdel about the treatment of overbred dogs in a veterinary practice: “Sweet, but sick”.

Hamburger Morgenpost, June 8, 2017
In 2017, the Hamburger Morgenpost published a double-page spread with photos by Holger Rüdel from a 1971 report on the youth detention facility in the former Hamburg-Hütten police prison. The facility existed there until the early 1980s.

magazine Focus 12-2009
In December 2009, the Focus magazine published a double-page spread with the story of the end of an era: photographs by Steve McCurry, which he had taken using analogue technology – one of the last available Kodachrome films. The story was illustrated with a portrait that Holger Rüdel was able to take of McCurry during his visit to Schleswig in 2009.

TUI catalog Schleswig-Holstein 2001
A premiere: In 2001, the first TUI catalogue for the holiday region of Schleswig-Holstein was published. A photo from the series “Old Holmer Fishermen on the Schlei” by Holger Rüdel was selected by the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency as the central motif for an image campaign in the brochure.
